La Sénégalaise des Eaux (SDE) annonce la finalisation des travaux de rénovation et de renforcement de l’alimentation en eau potable de Medina Gounass, l’un des hauts lieux de la vie religieuse au Sénégal. La SDE a investi un total de deux cent millions de francs CFA.
Cette initiative exceptionnelle de la SDE fait suite au drame survenu lors de l’édition 2017 du Daaka (retraite spirituelle) de Medina Gounass, lorsqu’un incendie avait ravagé le site de retraite, faisant plus d’une vingtaine de morts, de nombreux blessés et des dégâts matériels importants. Le sinistre avait été aggravé par les difficultés d’approvisionnement en eau de la cité religieuse, qui reçoit chaque année des milliers de pèlerins pendant une dizaine de jours.
