Comme solution provisoire, en attendant la reconstruction de la grande mosquée de Léona, les prières du vendredi sont déplacées au quartier kanène fondé par le marabout Serigne Hamid Kane. La mairie a promis d’installer une tente où les fidèles pourront s’abriter des rayons solaires. Le chef de l’Etat, Macky Sall dans le cadre du programme de modernisation des daaras, a promis 1 milliard de francs Cfa pour réhabiliter l’édifice religieux.
