Le Jaraaf de Dakar, réuni en Assemblée générale ce dimanche, a exprimé son “soutien moral indéfectible” et “sa totale confiance” à Lamine Diack, ancien président de la Fédération internationale d’athlétisme (IAAF) “dans l’épreuve qu’il traverse”, indique un courrier reçu mardi à l’APS.
“Les différentes instances du club, les anciens, les supporters et les pratiquants s’engagent résolument à ses côtés dans la lutte qu’il mène pour l’acquisition de sa liberté confisquée depuis deux ans”, ajoute le document.
Ancien président du club, Lamine Diack est mis en cause “depuis novembre 2015 par la justice française dans une affaire “de corruption passive et de blanchiment aggravé”.
Cette enquête a ensuite été étendue à partir de décembre 2015 sur l’attribution des JO-2016 à Rio et 2020 à Tokyo.
L’ancien ministre des Sports, président et membre fondateur du club dakarois est à Paris (France) sous contrôle judiciaire.
Le Jaraaf appelle “les autorités publiques sénégalaises, les instances sportives africaines à défendre le président Lamine Diack dont le combat demeure celui de l’ensemble des dirigeants sportifs de notre continent pour une représentation africaine équitable sans discrimination d’aucune sorte”.
Il a apporté “des contributions majeures et décisives au développement du sport en général et de l’athlétisme en particulier”, soutient le club de la Médina qui a réélu ce dimanche Cheikh Seck pour un nouveau mandat de quatre ans à sa présidence.
Le Jaraaf qualifie “d’acharnement suspect” la démarche de la justice française qui l’a maintenu sous contrôle judiciaire, l’ex-président de l’IAAF. La justice française poursuit Lamine Diack “exclusivement à charge sans tenir compte de sa disponibilité et des garanties honorables qu’il offre”, estime le club dakarois qui a décidé de lui témoigner sa totale confiance.
