Avec l’appui des partenaires au développement comme le Gouvernement de la République de Corée à travers l’Agence de Coopération Internationale de la Corée (KOICA), le Sénégal continue de déployer des efforts importants en mobilisant des ressources importantes pour améliorer l’accès à l’eau des populations et du cheptel principalement en zone rurale.

Ainsi, sur requête du Gouvernement de la République du Sénégal, le Gouvernement de la République de Corée a financé une première phase du projet d’approvisionnement en eau potable, par l’intermédiaire de la KOICA, sous forme de subventions non remboursables d’un montant de 5,5 millions de dollars US de 2011 à 2014. Ce projet a concerné les régions de Thiès, Louga et Saint-Louis. Ce qui avait permis de réaliser 12 forages, 12 châteaux d’eau, 225 km de réseau hydraulique, équipés de 12 pompes, 12 groupes électrogènes, 12 logements pour gardiens, 12 cabines de pompage, 03 unités de traitement d’eau. En plus, le volet renforcement de capacité de ce projet a permis la formation, de vingt-huit (28) agents de l’administration sénégalaise, en hydraulique rurale en République de Corée. Ces réalisations ont été faites dans plusieurs villages du pays pour permettre l’approvisionnement en eau potable de 100.000 personnes et 300.000 animaux. Ils ont permis aussi la réduction des efforts consentis par les femmes et les jeunes filles dans la recherche de l’eau dans le monde rural et celle des maladies d’origine hydrique. Ils ont aussi permis de créer des Activités Génératrices de Revenus (AGR), par l’aménagement de jardin horticoles autour de certains forages, pour améliorer les conditions de vie des populations. l’impact de cette première phase du projet sur les bénéficiaires, a décidé de financer une deuxième phase, du projet d’approvisionnement en eau potable, par l’intermédiaire de la KOICA, sous forme de subventions non remboursables d’un montant de 5 millions de dollars US de 2016 à 2018.. En effet, cette deuxième phase du projet d’amélioration des systèmes d’approvisionnement en eau potable et de l’assainissement concerne, les régions de Thiès, Fatick et Kaolack du centre du Sénégal, et permettra la réalisation 09 forages, 09 châteaux d’eau, 170 km de réseau hydraulique, équipés de 09 pompes, 09 groupes électrogènes, 09 logements pour gardiens, 09 cabines de pompage et d’une centaine de latrines. En plus, le volet renforcement de capacité de ce projet a permis la formation, de treize (13) agents de l’administration sénégalaise, en hydraulique rurale en République de Corée. Ces réalisations seront faites dans les villages de Mbouléme, Keur Maide (dans la région de Thiès), Ndawene, Diatmel Saer (dans la région de Kaolack), Thingue, Gaynabar, Kébé ansou, Sorome, Keur tamsir khoudia (dans la région de Fatick). Ces forages multi villages vont permettre au moins l’approvisionnement en eau potable de 40. 696 personnes et 100.000 animaux. La cérémonie de lancement des travaux a été organisée,, sur le site de Sinthiou Mbadane Peulh, dans la commune de Malicounda. Cette cérémonie a été rehaussée par la présence effective de Son Excellence Mme Hyo-Eun KIM, Ambassadeur de la République de Corée au Sénégal, de Mr Diéne FAYE, Secrétaire d’Etat à l’Hydraulique Rurale, de Mme Eunju CHA, Représentant Résident de l’Agence de Coopération Internationale de la Corée (KOICA) au Sénégal etc…
