La tension est telle que mardi 6 février le traditionnel discours sur l’Etat de la nation que Jacob Zuma devait prononcer devant le Parlement jeudi, a été repoussé à une date ultérieure. Une première. Dans la soirée, Cyril Ramaphosa, le président de l’ANC, a également annulé à la toute dernière minute une réunion spéciale du comité exécutif de son parti. Il devait se pencher une nouvelle fois sur le sort du président sud-africain.
Peu après, on apprenait l’annulation d’une réunion du comité exécutif de l’ANC. Cette réunion était prévue initialement pour ce mercredi soir et était très attendue. Le comité exécutif de l’ANC est le seul organe du parti qui peut voter une destitution du chef de l’Etat et ses membres devaient, une fois de plus, se pencher sur le cas de Jacob Zuma. Son annulation peut donc laisser penser que le chef de l’Etat a finalement cédé face à Cyril Ramaphosa, acceptant de démissionner de lui-même, ce qui rendait donc inutile la réunion prévue ce mercredi soir.
Aucune certitude pour autant. Jacob Zuma ne semble plus avoir beaucoup d’options, mais après tout, son départ souvent a été annoncé, sans jamais se concrétiser. Tout peut donc encore arriver dans quelques heures ou dans quelques jours, puisque les prochaines échéances politiques se situent seulement dans une dizaine de jours, avec notamment la présentation du budget prévu le 21 février. Les choses risquent donc de bouger d’ici là.
