Infographie : comment les activités illicites étranglent l’Afrique de l’Ouest

Trafics de drogues et d’armes, piraterie, détournements d’or et de pétrole : les flux financiers de ces activités illicites ou criminelles causent des préjudices graves en Afrique de l’Ouest, comme le montre un rapport de l’OCDE publié le 20 février.

On ne sait pas trop combien les activités illicites et criminelles coûtent à l’Afrique. À l’Union africaine, on parle de 50 milliards de dollars, soit 40 milliards d’euros, par an. D’autres experts avancent le chiffre de 100 milliards. Le mérite du rapport Flux financiers illicites – L’économie du commerce illicite en Afrique de l’Ouest, publié le 20 mars par l’OCDE est de ne pas se contenter de chiffres forcément sujet à caution puisque ces activités sont dissimulées.

Certes, ce rapport que le numéro de Jeune Afrique à paraître le 25 février analysera plus en détail, fait le tour des treize économies illicites qui génèrent des flux financiers : les médicaments frelatés, les détournements de pétrole et d’or, le trafic des migrants, d’armes ou de cigarettes, les circuits de la cocaïne et de la contrefaçon, les enlèvements pour rançon et la piraterie causent de graves dommages personnels, sociétaux, économiques et environnementaux. La corruption et le terrorisme se nourrissent de cet argent « noir ».
