Dakar, 22 mai (APS) – La Zone de libre-échange continentale africaine (ZLEC) instaurée par 44 pays d’Afrique va permettre, d’ici à 2022, d’augmenter de plus de sa moitié le volume des échanges commerciaux entre les pays du continent, a assuré, mardi, à Dakar, le ministre sénégalais du Commerce, Alioune Sarr..
“Cette Zone de libre-échange continentale africaine (ZLEC) permettra une augmentation des échanges commerciaux entre les pays africains de plus de la moitié, vers 2022”, a-t-il dit, ajoutant que cette initiative “contribuera de manière significative à la transformation structurelle de l’Afrique” et de son économie.
Alioune Sarr prenait part à une réunion du comité national chargé des négociations commerciales internationales, en présence de membres du patronat sénégalais.
La zone de libre-échange instituée par les Etats africains “devrait, selon les résultats de l’étude d’impact réalisée sur l’économie sénégalaise, se traduire par un accroissement du volume des échanges et une amélioration du niveau de vie des populations”, a indiqué M. Sarr.
Selon lui, cette étude “présente des atouts certains pour le Sénégal, dont les exportations sur le plan africain ont considérablement augmenté ces dernières années, passées de 39,27 % en 2011 à 42,7 % en 2015, et à 43 % en 2016”.
Si l’on en croit le ministre du Commerce, les négociations menées pour la création de la ZLEC, lancées depuis en juin 2015, ont connu “un tournant décisif”, avec la signature du projet de libre-échange par 44 pays, lors d’un sommet des chefs d’Etat et de gouvernement de l’Union africaine, le 21 mars dernier, à Kigali, au Rwanda.
