Dans une interview accordée à l’émission musicale “C’est le moment” sur BBC Afrique, la star américaine d’origine sénégalaise Akon a estimé que beaucoup de dirigeants font trop dans politique et ils ne comprennent pas les besoins de la jeunesse.
« L’une des conséquences de la négligence des politiciens est le voyage risqué, de plusieurs Africains à travers la méditerranée et le désert, qui se traduit par des milliers de morts” .
Pour Akon, ‘‘toutes les richesses sont en Afrique. Je ne vois pas pourquoi vous devez risquer votre vie en traversant la mer alors que vous pouvez avoir plus en restant en Afrique ».
Il a insisté que “nous devons changer la manière dont nous voyons les choses. Nous ne pouvons pas dire que l’Afrique a besoin d’aide. C’est l’Afrique qui aide plutôt le reste du monde ».
Akon a invité les africains à se rendre compte de leur vraie valeur et de ce que représente l’Afrique pour les autres. Le co-fondateur de Konvict Musik a par ailleurs appelé la diaspora à identifier les vrais besoins de l’Afrique et aider à investir et construire le contient.
