Ce vendredi , l’ex chef de l’ Etat sud africain Jacob Zuma RechercherJacob Zuma a comparu brièvement devant la Haute-cour de Durban (nord-est) dans une affaire de vente d’armes qui remonte à plus de 20 ans.
A peine ouverte , l’audience a été renvoyée au 8 juin pour permettre « aux parties de peaufiner leurs arguments », selon des sources judiciaires.
Réagissant à cette affaire , l’ex chef de l’ Etat a clamé son innocence , dénonçant un procès « politique ».
« Je suis innocent jusqu’à ce que je sois jugé coupable, mais certaines personnes veulent me traiter comme si j’étais coupable”, a-t-il lancé vendredi devant une foule venue le soutenir par des chants et le slogan “ne touchez pas à Zuma”.
Jacob Zuma âgé de 75 ans ,est soupçonné d’avoir accepté des pots-de-vin notamment de la société française d’armement et d’électronique Thales, en marge d’un contrat de plus de 4 milliards d’euros.
Thales, qui a remporté une partie de ce contrat pour l’équipement de navires militaires, est également poursuivi dans cette affaire.
Depuis sa démission forcée , c’est la première fois que l’ex Président comparaît devant un tribunal pour corruption.
