Après dix ans d’absence, la pionnière de la littérature africaine, Aminata Sow Fall, revient en librairie avec une nouvelle fiction intitulée «L’empire du mensonge» éditée en France par la maison du Serpent à plumes. Un livre à l’image de son œuvre ancrée dans son pays mais tournée vers l’universel. Portrait de la romancière sénégalaise de 76 ans.

En effet, c’est à son retour, à Dakar, dans les années 1970, après ses études à Paris, qu’Aminata Sow Fall, frappée par l’évolution de la société sénégalaise, se met à écrire son premier texte. Elle y pointe les dérives de son pays. Refusé par les éditeurs, ce manuscrit considéré trop « local » finit par paraître en 1976 sous le titre Le Revenant. Très vite l’écho est favorable et Aminata Sow Fall enchaîne avec La Grève des Bàttu, couronné par le grand prix littéraire d’Afrique noire et adapté au cinéma, en 2 000, par Cheick Oumar Sissoko.
Traduite dans le monde entier, sollicitée dans de nombreuses universités – américaines en particulier -, lauréate du Grand Prix de la Francophonie, en 2015, décerné par l’Académie française, Aminata Sow Fall est également très active pour promouvoir la littérature au Sénégal. Elle a créé une Maison d’édition ainsi qu’un Centre africain d’animation et d’échanges culturels qui va prochainement être relocalisé à Saint-Louis.
