Après une première suspension, le procès du putsch manqué de 2015 au Burkina Faso reprend ce mercredi 21 mars – il avait ouvert le 27 février. Au total, 84 accusés sont jugés : 18 civils et 66 militaires dont les généraux Gilbert Diendéré et Djibrill Bassolé, cerveaux présumés de la tentative de coup d’Etat, où des soldats du Régiment de sécurité présidentielle (RSP) avaient tenté en vain de renverser le gouvernement de transition mis en place après la chute du président Blaise Compaoré. Bilan : 14 morts et plus de 250 blessés. L’audience débute à 9h (locales et GMT) devant la Chambre de première instance du tribunal militaire. Le procès devrait durer plusieurs semaines.
Le 16 septembre 2015, la tension est à son paroxysme entre les autorités de la transition et le régiment de la sécurité présidentielle. Le conseil des ministres doit adopter le décret proclamant la dissolution du RSP. C’est alors que des soldats investissent le Conseil des ministres. Ils arrêtent le président Michel Kafando et le Premier ministre Isaac Zida.
S’engagent ensuite des discussions entre les militaires et des personnalités civiles et militaires. Aucune solution n’est trouvée. Le lendemain, le 17 septembre, Gilbert Diendéré est désigné président d’un Comité national pour la démocratie.
Dans les grandes villes, des manifestations éclatent. Des éléments du RSP tirent à balles réelles. La frange loyaliste de l’armée se met en mouvement, la communauté internationale condamne le coup d’Etat. Le putsch tourne court. Le 23 septembre, Michel Kafando est réinstallé dans ses fonctions de président. Une semaine après, Gilbert Diendéré se rend.
