L’attaquant sénégalais Diafra Sakho va quitter West Ham (Angleterre) après avoir signé dimanche un contrat de deux ans et demi avec Rennes (France), a annoncé à l’APS son agent Thierno Seydi.
“Nous venons de finir la visite médicale et le contrat de deux ans et demi a été paraphé”, a précisé cet agent de joueurs sénégalais basé en France.
Convoité de longue date par plusieurs clubs anglais (Crystal Palace et Swansea) et français (Bordeaux et Rennes), l’ancien sociétaire du FC Metz (France) a finalement rejoint le Stade Rennais, sa première option depuis l’été dernier.
L’ancien pensionnaire de Génération Foot âgé de 28 ans, en manque de temps de jeu chez les Hammers, où il a marqué deux fois en 14 matchs, est devenu l’un des pions essentiels du dispositif du sélectionneur national du Sénégal, Aliou Cissé.
Sakho a marqué deux fois lors des matchs contre le Cap-Vert (2-0) en octobre, contre l’Afrique du Sud (2-0) ensuite, en novembre, lors des éliminatoires de la Coupe du monde 2018.
