“Au Sénégal, on estime que seulement 32% de la population rurale a accès à l’électricité, de sorte que près de 70% des ménages, institutions et petites entreprises rurales dépendent de sources d’énergie dangereuses et inefficaces pour l’éclairage, la cuisson et les besoins productifs’’. Cette information est de l’Ong Energy 4 Impact.
Selon un rapport dont EnQuête détient copie, le faible accès à l’énergie a un impact sévère sur le développement économique et il est une cause profonde de la faible productivité de l’économie sénégalaise, en particulier dans les zones rurales.
En effet, selon le document, 46% des Sénégalais vivent en dessous du seuil de pauvreté et 50% sont en insécurité alimentaire. C’est dans ce contexte que l’ONG a conçu le programme Entreprises de femmes productives et autonomisées (EFPA). Il a pour objectif de permettre un meilleur accès à l’énergie, pour avoir un impact transformationnel sur les moyens de subsistance des communautés locales.
L’initiative vise en même temps à combattre le changement climatique et moderniser les activités économiques traditionnelles. “Grâce à une combinaison de mentorat, d’accès aux subventions pilotes et à la dette concessionnelle, de partenariats stratégiques et de liens commerciaux, les groupes de femmes pourront investir dans des appareils productifs (réfrigérateurs solaires, systèmes d’irrigation et moulins).
