Kenza Drider (R), candidate for the 2012 French presidential election, and her spokeswoman Hind Ahmas, speak to the press on December 12, 2011 in front of the police tribunal in Paris, after both women were fined for violating France's niqab ban.

  1. Hey, we all need to feel free to state our opinions whether others on the list like them or not… I really like the annotations feature.. BUT not the editor being turned on by default.I don't know if it's an HD thing or not… but I get a message "trying to reach the server… please wait" … when I turn the annotations editor it usually goes away. It might be because it takes me a few seconds to turn it off… I can't stand the annotations editor being on by default. I really don't see the value of having it turned on "just in case" .

  4. I agree with the feeling I am never going to get caught up. I am only doing one but I work two jobs, have two girls with activities and everything else that comes with having a family. I am so jelious of you all that get them done right away. I still have one more to do on Clue 4, 15 to do on Clue 5 and now Clue 8 is 8 more to do. I am having fun learning new patterns and I cannot wait to see what it is going to look like.

  6. Woody,I think “Curb Your Enthusiasm” has more edge and substance than “Seinfeld.” But both series have derived their strength from a core principle which has empowered much memorable art: observe closely the small details of daily life. Which comedy TV series have most impressed you?

  7. I second PattyBo above and add a nom for openwideforchucky on the same thread:So Natalie Mendoza was replaced by America Olivo. It must be comforting to the play’s investors that when people in this show get hurt, Julie Taymor just has to drive her van to the Walmart parking lot to pick up another load of actors.

  8. Hi Bob – Thanks for the question, and I’m so glad you’re enjoying the book. I didn’t actually ask about this, but I think everyone just keeps making the same money they would be making if they were on shore. So grad students are supported by fellowships or their advisors’ funding, professors make a salary, lab technicians make a salary, etc. The great thing about being out there is your expenses are really low! I put my wallet in a drawer when I got on the ship and didn’t touch it for six weeks.

  9. I am really so clueless about blogging and what you do and how you do it that any insight you provide proves fascinating. I imagine that our jobs are much the same in the fact that we are bombarded with submissions of projects and ideas. I would love to hear more about how you process it all, keep it organized, and weed through the dandelions to get to the dahlias.
