Kenza Drider (R), candidate for the 2012 French presidential election, and her spokeswoman Hind Ahmas, speak to the press on December 12, 2011 in front of the police tribunal in Paris, after both women were fined for violating France's niqab ban.

  1. Garmin has best in class products for the non commercial aviation and marine industries. They are also developing niche products for biking, hiking, camping, cross country skiing and other leisure lifestyle applications. Not a lot of volume in those products but margins are good.Long term they will either acquire, merge or be acquired.

  2. I think – and I’m at least semi serious – that the best solution may be to never, never, under any circumstances, read an EULA. When they aren’t boring, they are usually obnoxious or even worse, as in this case. They are likely written by recent grads who believe that their task is to be as excessive and unilateral as possible. If these things are never read, maybe the Courts will never enforce them.

  3. Be certain though, that adverse selection will cause more and more candidates who wish to enter the actuarial field to attend Canadian universities with the understanding that the newly approved path is an easier way to bypass the preliminary exams. I have to agree with Michael that the best way to implement this program would be to ask the universities to offer the SOA/CAS exam as the final exam, especially noting that the preliminary exams are already offered via Prometric. If the class is as rigorous as claimed, I am sure that the candidates will have no issues obtaining a passing grade.

  4. Carol, it really makes me feel old, the amount of time I spent thinking and discussing weather these days. But I can't help it if it's really strange and influences my perfume wearing habits.I hope it won't be a difficult turn for you next week – it gets hard on people when the temperatures change so suddenly (my boyfriend gets terrible headaches).

  7. Richard, well done article. You are spot on with your view. I saw myself in your examples. Fortunately, I’ve come around to seeing things as you do. My trick is to focus on my family – that makes it so easy to be fair and firm with tenants. Also, I never fear vacancies. Of course I don’t like them, but I no longer will do anything for cash flow.

  8. From the perspective of the European, American religious belief is beer-light. It’s not the heavy breathing religion as Europe sees it. I wonder how many Americans beer-light believers are such because they believe that that is the right response to the question. One wonders how serious is the Walmart shopper about salvation. Basically, I think the survey results are self contradictory and ridiculous.

  9. I got Fire for myself! …Even though I've already borrowed it from the library and loved it. My mom only agreed to by it for me because I'm going to the Librarian Conference thing, and there's apparently a book signing scheduled. That means that I'll get to meet you next Friday :)I can't wait! 🙂
