Elle m’a dit : ‘à 25 ans, il serait peut-être temps d’évoluer dans une sélection nationale’. Après, je voulais rendre quelque chose à ma famille qui m’a donné ses racines du Sénégal. (…) Quand j’ai fait ce choix, j’ai vu beaucoup de joie dans leurs yeux. (…) Depuis lors, je ne regrette pas de porter les couleurs du Sénégal.”
Plus de deux ans après, il est un cadre de l’équipe d’Aliou Cissé et enchaîne les bonnes performances. Kalidou Koulibaly a déjà l’esprit vers la Coupe du monde 2018 en Russie.
