Karim Wade a envoyé un message aux participants à un Colloque international pour la paix, organisé à Dakar le 3 mars 2018. Le message, lu en public et reproduit dans les médias, est daté du 28 février 2018 et est signé de «Karim Wade, candidat du Peuple aux élections présidentielles de 2019». Il convient de souligner d’emblée que l’emploi du pluriel nous intrigue, car il n’y aura qu’une seule et unique élection présidentielle au Sénégal en 2019 et qu’en France, autre pays de Karim Wade, l’élection présidentielle n’est prévue que pour l’année 2022. On peut donc présumer que Karim Wade voudrait parler de la Présidentielle au Sénégal pour laquelle, il faut le dire, il a déjà été déclaré candidat au nom du Parti démocratique sénégalais (Pds). Il prétendrait alors parler au nom du Peuple sénégalais. Qu’il peut bien être malheureux ce Peuple sénégalais pour qu’un Karim Wade, qui n’a daigné prendre la nationalité sénégalaise qu’en 2003, bien après l’accession de son père à la présidence de la République, se retrouve à se dévouer à parler au nom de ce Peuple sénégalais ! C’est un Karim Wade qui a esté en justice contre les autorités de l’Etat du Sénégal, en se prévalant de sa qualité de citoyen français qui s’autoproclame ainsi candidat du Peuple sénégalais. Il a déposé une plainte, avec constitution de partie civile, devant le juge français, Leche Bertezene, du Tribunal de grande instance de Paris, contre l’Etat du Sénégal.
