Le président ivoirien, Alassane Ouattara, et ses pairs du Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, du Niger, Mahamadou Issoufou, et du Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, se réuniront le 21 février 2018, à Accra, au Ghana, pour examiner la mise en œuvre du Programme de la monnaie unique de la Communauté économique des Etats de l’Afrique de l’Ouest (Cedeao).
Selon un communiqué parvenu à www.lactuacho.com, ils auront également à adopter la nouvelle feuille de route initiée sous l’égide de l’organisation régionale en vue d’accélérer le processus de création de ladite monnaie à l’horizon 2020.
Cette 5ème rencontre fait suite à celle tenue, le 24 octobre 2017 à Niamey, au Niger, et qui instruisait le Comité ministériel chargé du suivi et de l’accélération de ce processus, d’organiser dans un délai de 3 mois, une réunion au cours de laquelle une nouvelle feuille de route sera soumise aux chefs d’Etat et de gouvernement membres de la Task force présidentielle.
Une quarantaine d’experts régionaux chargés des questions d’intégration monétaire s’étaient alors réunis du 17 au 19 janvier 2018, à Abuja, au Nigeria, pour se pencher sur la nomenclature de cette nouvelle feuille de route. Le document consensuel issu de leurs travaux sera le principal menu de la présente rencontre.
