Le directeur de l’Institut supérieur des arts et des cultures (Isac) sis au musée Théodore Monod d’art africain, en a fait l’annonce hier, non sans défendre le bien fondé de sa démarche. «’Nous perdons de plus en plus nos prénoms africains au détriment de prénoms d’inspiration musulmane et chrétienne alors que nos ancêtres avaient des prénoms autres que musulmans ou chrétiens. Je viens de créer un calendrier où les 365 jours sont remplis avec des prénoms uniquement sénégalais et sans aucune connotation religieuse. L’objectif de ce calendrier est de sauvegarder ce patrimoine que l’on risque de perdre», explique-t-il, précisant avoir «répertorié plus de 500 prénoms Wolofs, Diolas, Sérères, Toucouleurs, Peuls, Sarakolés, Lébous, Balantes, Manjaks, Baïnouks, Pepels, Bassaris, etc.».
