Après les chefs d’état-major des pays du G5 Sahel, lundi 5 février, ce sont les chefs d’Etat qui sont réunis à Niamey depuis ce matin. De nombreux partenaires de l’organisation participent aussi à ce nouveau sommet qui devrait notamment permettre de faire un point sur le financement de la force militaire.
Les chefs d’Etat vont plancher sur la recherche de financements complémentaires. En janvier, à Bamako, ils ont décidé de mettre en place un fonds fiduciaire pour accueillir les contributions, mais malgré les engagements de l’Union européenne et de plusieurs pays, comme l’Arabie saoudite, le compte n’y est toujours pas.
