Agée de seulement 15 ans, Rahma Ndao fait partie des recrues de la Mensa, une organisation internationale qui regroupe les enfants dont le quotient intellectuel est largement au-dessus de la moyenne. Adulée au pays de l’Oncle Sam grâce à ses performances au Scranton Test avec une moyenne de 99%, la jeune surdouée est toujours ignorée par les autorités sénégalaises. Et pourtant c’est grâce à elle que le Sénégal fait partie, avec l’Afrique du Sud des deux seuls pays africains présents au sein de la Mensa.
Au Sénégal depuis quelques jours pour un retour aux sources, Rahma Ndao a pu constater les conditions dans lesquelles ses compatriotes étudient. A l’école Anne Marie Javouhey de Dakar où elle a été visiter, la jeune surdouée n’a pu retenir ses larmes quand la directrice de l’établissement lui a fait savoir que la série scientifique parvient à obtenir 100% aux examens du Baccalauréat, malgré un cadre défavorable, matérialisé par un laboratoire en très piteux état.
Invitée à l’émission Grand Jury ce dimanche 15 avril 2018, Rahma Ndao se dit choquée par l’état dans lequel elle a trouvé les écoles sénégalaises qu’elle a visitées. “Je pense qu’il y a des jeunes élèves qui peuvent aider au développement du Sénégal, mais qui n’ont malheureusement pas les moyens de le faire. Le Sénégal devait dépasser ce stade là”, s’est-elle désolée.
