Saliou Keïta estime, comme bon nombre d’ « apéristes », que le parrainage « n’est pas nouveau dans ce pays« . « Il y avait une discrimination à l’endroit des candidats indépendants qu’il s’agit aujourd’hui de corriger en instaurant le parrainage pour tous… Il ne devrait pas y avoir de polémique à ce niveau car tout citoyen épris de justice devrait se retrouver dans ce système de parrainage. Tout le reste n’est que de la politique politicienne que l’opposition, sans programme, veut imposer à l’écrasante majorité des sénégalais…« , a dit M. Keïta lors de cette rencontre.
