Plus de peur que de mal. La Caserne des sapeurs-pompiers de Kédougou a failli hier, très tardivement dans la nuit, être victime d’un drame.
Les populations de ladite Commune s’étaient soulevées contre les agents de la Brigade des sapeurs-pompiers. La raison ? Elles voulaient, tout simplement, mettre le feu dans ce camp.
En effet, les habitants étaient très remontés contre les sapeurs qui, laissent-ils entendre, avaient refusé de venir éteindre un feu déclaré dans une boutique de vente de motos. Ainsi, ils ont voulu déverser leur bile sur ces agents. Une façon pour eux, de se faire justice.
Du côté des sapeurs-pompiers, c’est le pire qui a été frôlé. Un haut gradé dudit corps, explique que ses hommes n’ont jamais refusé de répondre à leur mission. A l’en croire, le seul véhicule dont dispose la Caserne est tombé en panne depuis longtemps lors d’un incendie survenu à Kharakhéna (site d’orpaillage). Et, jusque-là, il n’est pas en bon état. Voilà ce qui justifie leur manque de réactions dans leur devoir.
Après cette attaque, une réunion s’est, nuitamment, tenue entre le gouverneur de la Région, les sapeurs-pompiers et les populations. Pour l’heure, deux jeunes ont été interpellés par les forces de l’ordre pour enquête.
