Le philosophe sénégalais a remporté le prix Frantz Fanon Lifetime Achievement Prize, décerné par la Caribbean Philosophical Association (CPA, une organisation philosophique fondée en 2002 au Centre for Caribbean Thought de l’Université des Antilles, à Mona, en Jamaïque et regroupant plus de quatre cents (400) membres composés d’universitaires. «Ce prix est le plus prestigieux décerné par l’Association Caribéenne de Philosophie et a pour objectif, de récompenser les chercheurs dont l’œuvre est considérée comme ayant eu une portée heuristique et émancipatrice de premier plan pour les peuples caribéens et africains », rappelle dans un communiqué, la Société Sénégalaise de Philosophie (SOSEPHI), laquelle a porté sa candidature pour l’obtention de ce prix.
«Ce qui est affirmé à travers ce prix, c’est l’importance du travail du Professeur Souleymane Bachir Diagne pour le renouvellement des études africaines d’abord, mais également pour le décentrement idéologique de la philosophie et la prise en compte des paradigmes venus des pays du Sud », souligne-elle.
