Après les 3 médailles d’or en poomsae mercredi, Ababacar Sadikh Soumare (-80 kg) a décroché la 4e médaille d’or sénégalaise aux championnats d’Afrique en combat hier, jeudi, à Agadir, au Maroc.
Sur les six athlètes montes sur le tapis pour combattre à Agadir, hier, seuls deux sont montés sur le podium. Ababacar Sadikh Soumare s’est pare d’or dans la catégorie -80 kg. Il a rugi en battant en finale l’ivoirien Cheikh Salla Cissé, champion du monde. Un exploit inédit pour le Lion couronne champion d’Afrique dès sa première participation. Ababacar a réussi la prouesse de mettre fin aux 4 ans sans médaille d’or en combats côté sénégalais, après celle glanée en 2014 par Bineta Diedhiou (-57 kg). Cette dernière, doyenne de l’équipe, a été médaillée de bronze hier. Hormis Bineta Diedhiou, tous les autres membres de l’actuelle équipe nationale sont à leur première participation aux joutes continentales.
Les 6 combattants qui étaient en lice sont « Ababacar Sadikh Soumare (-80 kg), Ousmane Sarr (-68 kg), Bineta Diedhiou (-57 kg), Sokhna Diarra Bousso Seck (-49 kg), Abdoulaye Ngom (-58 kg), Seydina Limamoulaye Seye (+87 kg).
