Le trio d’arbitres sénégalais composé de Malang Diédhiou et des assistants Djibril Camara et Malick Samba ont été retenus pour officier durant la coupe du monde 2018, annonce la FIFA dans un communiqué. « Le Comité des arbitres de la FIFA a sélectionné 36 arbitres et 63 arbitres assistants, représentant 46 pays différents, pour la Coupe du Monde de la FIFA, Russie 2018 », écrit l’instance sur son site officiel.
« Le choix du dernier groupe d’officiels sélectionnés pour arbitrer à la Coupe du Monde de la FIFA, Russie 2018 était basé sur les compétences et la personnalité de chaque arbitre, ainsi que sur son niveau de compréhension du football et sa capacité à lire le jeu et les différentes tactiques utilisées », explique la FIFA. « Au cours des trois dernières années, des séminaires préparatoires ont été organisés pour les arbitres et les arbitres assistants, axés sur le fair-play, la protection des joueurs et l’image du jeu, ainsi que la cohérence et l’uniformité », écrit l’instance mondiale.
