Ayant gravi un à un les échelons, durant sa longue carrière sous les drapeaux, le Colonel Antoine wardini a eu le privilège de servir dans tous les «grands commandements de l’Armée». Le grade de Colonel qu’il porte si fièrement ne vient que pour couronner la brillante carrière de cet officier valeureux. Retour sur cette brillante carrière.
Entre 1990 et 1992, le jeune officier de l’époque a eu à commander trois compagnies différentes en Casamance. Plus tard, il a assuré le commandement d’une brigade d’application de l’Infanterie à Thiès, avant de prendre part aux opérations de maintien du pain au Mali de 1998 à 2000. Le colonel Wardini a eu aussi a être le chef de cabinet du Chef d’Etat major des armées (Cemga), avant d’atterrir à Saint-Louis comme chef de corps du 2e bataillon d’infanterie, responsable de la sécurité frontalière de la zone nord. Mais, le grand public sénégalais connaîtra plus le Colonel Antoine Wardini lorsqu’il a été porté à la tête de la très stratégique Direction des relations publiques des armées (Dirpa). Là, l’officier d’infanterie, montrera une autre facette de sa compétence, c’est-à-dire ses talents de communicant hors pair.
Il le dit lui-même à nos confrères du Témoin. «Mon passage à la Dirpa a été un moment de commandement exceptionnel !» Précisant que «j’ai modernisé et équipé la Dirpa pour répondre à l’attente des armées et du grand public». De cette période que datent les bonnes relations entre la «grande muette» et les journalistes. Car en son temps, le Colonel Wardini avait initié des stages d’imprégnation des journalistes dans l’Armée appelés «Dakar Bango des journalistes».
L’officier de l’Armée de terre a également été commandant de la zone militaire numéro 1, Dakar. A ce titre, c’est lui qui a organisé le défilé du cinquantenaire de notre indépendance, en 2010, devant près de 25 chefs d’Etat étrangers. A la suite de cela, il a été nommé attaché militaire du Sénégal au Brésil. A son retour du pays de la Samba, il se voit confié le Service civique national.
