Des études scientifiques ont montré que l’édition 2016 du Grand Magal de Touba a généré quelques 256 milliards de FCfa et que la Tva (taxe sur la valeur ajoutée) tirée des activités liées à cet événement a fait, à elle-seule, quelques 45 milliards F Cfa. C’est ce qu’a annoncé ce lundi 16 octobre 2017, le président de la Commission communication et culture du Grand Magal de Touba, Serigne Cheikh Abdoul Ahad Mbacké Gaïndé Fatma, au cours de la réunion nationale consacrée aux préparatifs de ce grand rendez-vous de la communauté mouride. Une rencontre présidée par le ministre de l’Intérieur et de la sécurité publique, Aly Ngouille Ndiaye, en présence du porte-parole du khalife général des mourides, Serigne Bass Abdou Khadre.
Serigne Cheikh Abdoul Ahad Mbacké Gaïndé Fatma a profité de cette rencontre pour demander un recensement fiable des fidèles le temps du Magal. Il trouve que l’effectif des fidèles à Touba, de même que la taille de la population actuelle de la capitale du mouridisme, sont en deçà du nombre évalué. Selon lui, durant le Magal de Touba, ce sont plus de 5 millions de fidèles qui se donnent rendez-vous dans la cité religieuse.
