Diouf Sarr à la semaine de la santé de la mère et de l’enfant

La semaine nationale de la santé de la mère et de l’enfant, lancée mardi à Dakar, constitue “une étape majeure dans notre recherche permanente d’un accès universel à des services de qualité’’, a déclaré mardi le ministre de la Santé et de l’Action sociale, Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr.

“L’évènement qui nous réunit constitue une étape majeure dans notre recherche permanente d’un accès universel à des services de qualité sans aucune forme d’exclusion”, a-t-il soutenu.

Le ministre s’exprimait à l’occasion du lancement de la ère édition de la semaine de la santé de la mère et de l’enfant sur le thème “Les 1000 premiers jours de la vie : de la conception à 2 ans, une fenêtre d’opportunités à saisir”.

M. Diouf Sarr a souligné que “pour le gouvernement du Sénégal, la santé de la mère et de l’enfant constitue un facteur déterminant dans la lutte contre la pauvreté et un enjeu stratégique fort pour l’amélioration du capital humain, pilier essentiel du PSE”.

Selon lui, les “dernières enquêtes démographiques et de santé au Sénégal ont montré une tendance à la baisse des différents taux de mortalité maternelle et infanto-juvénile”. “Le renforcement de ces acquis nécessite l’accélération de la lutte contre les décès évitables des mères, des nouveau-nés et des enfants’’, a plaidé le ministre.

Cette première édition de la semaine de la santé de la mère et de l’enfant vise “à accroître le niveau de connaissance des individus, des familles et des communautés sur les paquets de services, à consolider l’implication des leaders et acteurs communautaires”, a-t-il dit.

Elle offre aussi, a ajouté Abdoulaye Diouf Sarr, “des services pour l‘amélioration des indicateurs liés à la mortalité maternelle, néonatale et infanto-juvénile”.

Le ministre a indiqué que son département veut “réduire la mortalité maternelle de 70 décès pour 100000 naissances vivantes, réduire la mortalité néonatale de 10 pour mille naissances vivantes ; réduire la mortalité infanto-juvénile à 20 pour mille naissances vivantes, d’ici 2030”.

Il annonce que l’Etat a alloué “12% du budget national au secteur de la santé” pour l’atteinte de ces objectifs.
