Sané, qui devait répondre à une 2e convocation de la gendarmerie dans le cadre de l’enquête sur la tuerie de Boffa a laissé une lettre d’adieu intitulé « testament de fin de vie ». Il y expliquait les raisons qui l’ont poussé à commettre son acte désespéré. « Suite à l’insécurité des comités de lutte suite aux menaces des coupeurs de bois sur les comités de lutte, ma vie n’a plus de sens dans ce monde ». Précisant n’être point responsable de la mort des 14 exploitants de bois, il a prié pour que « triomphe la vérité ».
Dans sa lettre, Sané souligne que « personne ne l’a incité à attenter à sa vie », mais que son acte est dicté par le fait que sa « dignité en tant que personne morale et son amour pour l’environnement étaient atteints ».
Selon le journal, Bourama Sané, qui a avalé le poison chez lui voulait dénoncer la passivité complice des autorités administratives en succombant dans les locaux de la gendarmerie. Mais, il mort en chemin.
