Le président de la République, Macky Sall a engagé lundi à Dakar, son gouvernement à “amplifier” ses efforts pour faire du Sénégal, “le grenier de l’Afrique de l’Ouest et exportateur important de riz.
“J’engage le gouvernement, à amplifier ses efforts pour faire de notre pays, le grenier de l’Afrique de l’ouest, et surtout en faire prochainement, un pays exportateur de riz qui constitue un actif important de notre pays”, a-t-il dit.
M Sall s’exprimait lors de la cérémonie de remise de plus de 1000 unités d’équipements agricoles, d’une valeur de 32 milliards de Francs CFA,
Ce matériel composé de tracteurs, de moissonneuses-batteuses, d’engins de génie civil, de motopompes, etc. est acquis dans le cadre de la coopération entre le Sénégal et l’Inde pour l’atteinte de l’autosuffisance en riz
Selon le chef de l’Etat, cette cérémonie s’inscrit dans le cadre de son ambition de faire de l’agriculture, le moteur du progrès économique et social du pays.
“En effet, j’ambitionne de construire une agriculture moderne compétitive, une agriculture durable, apte à assurer la transformation structurelle de notre économie”, a dit Macky Sall.
Dans ce cadre, a-t-il ajouté, “j’ai pris l’option résolue d’intensifier la mécanisation agricole afin d’accroître la productivité et favoriser le bien-être des populations agricoles et aux ménages ruraux”.
Il a assuré que “cet engagement vise à renforcer cette agriculture moderne et en faire une agriculture adaptée et intégrée, fondée sur le savoir-faire mais aussi sur la technologie”.
“Cette rencontre d’aujourd’hui traduit la détermination renouvelée d’assumer pleinement cet impératif de modernisation de notre agriculture, notamment par son équipement en matériels performants”, a poursuivi le chef de l’Etat.
Il a en outre rappelé que depuis 2012, “il y’a un budget de 5 milliards dédié exclusivement à l’acquisition de divers matériels de culture au bénéfice de petites exploitations agricoles et familiales”.
“Cette dotation servant à subventionner à hauteur de 70%, l’acquisition de matériel et outillage agricole pour les bénéficiaires, a permis de récolter entre 2013 et 2017, 65. 063 unités, auprès des industries locales”, a indiqué M. Sall.
Il a précisé que “concernant les grandes exploitations agricoles, notre parc de tracteurs s’est enrichi de près de 2000 tracteurs acquis entre 2012 et 2017, avec une subvention de 60%”.
Le président Sall a estimé que “la mise à disposition de ce matériel, combinée à la formation des acteurs, va améliorer sensiblement, l’environnement agricole et favoriser ainsi la promotion de producteurs modernes”.
