L’attaquant international ivoirien Georges Henri Aboubakar Griffiths qui évoluait dans l’équipe de Diosgyor en Hongrie a été abattu, jeudi soir, à Abidjan par des braqueurs qui ont emporté son véhicule de marque Mercedes-Benz ML.
Fils d’un ancien joueur de l’Asec Mimosas (Championnat en titre de la Côte d’Ivoire) Georges Henri Aboubakar Griffiths, a succombé de ses blessures lors de son évacuation vers un hôpital après avoir reçu des balles assassines de deux individus non encore identifiés à Angré Djibi, dans la commune de Cocody à l’Est d’Abidjan, aux environs de 19h00, heure locale et Gmt.
Selon des témoins, George Henri était venu rendre visite à son amie et c’est sur le chemin du retour au moment où il s’apprêtait à quitter cette dernière et monter dans sa voiture qu’il s’est vu approché par deux individus qui lui ont demandé de rendre les clés de sa voiture.
Voulant résister, l’un d’entre eux, a tiré sur lui et se sont échappés avec sa voiture. L’ex-avant-centre de l’ASI d’Abengourou, ville située à l’Est du pays, n’a pas survécu à ses blessures.
Né le 24 février 1990 à Treichville à Abidjan, il a évolué en Sélection nationale des moins de 23 ans avant de connaître une carrière professionnelle qui l’a conduit en République Tchèque et en Hongrie.
