La région de Kaffrine peut être considérée comme la capitale des chiens errants du Sénegal. A l’instar des autres localités du pays, elle a célébré hier jeudi 28 septembre, la Journée mondiale de la rage. Rien que pour l’année en cours, le service régional de l’Elevage y a recensé 58 cas de morsure sur des humains.
Cela, contre 295 chiens abattus. Au plan national, c’est 585 chiens errants qui ont été piqués (Malém Hodar 150, Birkelane 40, Kounguel plus de 100).
Pour éviter les cas de morsures et davantage préserver les citoyens, le chef du service régional de l’Elevage a sollicité l’appui des autorités et celle des collectivités locales, pour disposer des produits et matériels nécessaires dans la prise en charge des chiens errants.
