Hier nuit (dimanche), TV5 a présenté un film documentaire sur le problème des malades mentaux au Sénégal. Sur les images, l’on voyait clairement les visages non masqués des patients dont certains étaient même en consultation avec leur Médecin traitant, le Docteur Sey SARA, aujourd’hui à la retraite, mais toujours en service à l’Hôpital psychiatrique de Thiaroye.
En principe, il est formellement interdit, même à la presse nationale, de prendre des images au sein de cette structure hospitalière, pour préserver l’intégrité physique et morale des malades. Qu’est-ce qui avait donc changé entre temps pour que cette grande chaîne de télévision, très suivie à travers le monde, puisse bafouer ainsi les droits fondamentaux de personnes ne jouissant pas de toutes leurs facultés mentales, surtout dans ce lieu bien sécurisé ?
Pour avoir une réponse nette à cette question, Ansoumana DIONE, Président de l’Association sénégalaise pour le suivi et l’assistance aux malades mentaux (ASSAMM) interpelle les responsables de ladite structure, et notamment le Docteur Sey SARA qui n’était pas sans savoir que nul n’avait le droit de prendre des images de malades mentaux hospitalisés qui, aujourd’hui, ont fait malheureusement le tour du monde. Acte gravissime que le défenseur des malades mentaux, Ansoumana DIONE, condamne avec la dernière énergie.
