Mame Alassane Thiaw Lahi est un descendant direct du Prophète Mouhamed (PSL). La révélation a été faite lors du pèlerinage à La Mecque de 1962. Mame Alassane Thiaw Lahi, qui est né en 1915, est le fils de Seydina Mandione Lahi et petit-fils de Seydina Limamou Lahi (PSL). Il est devenu Khalife le 10 octobre 1987 suite au rappel à Dieu de son frère aîné Seydina Issa Lahi, plus connu sous le nom de Baye Seydi Thiaw Lahi. Il a été rappelé à Dieu le 24 avril 2001, correspondant au 29 du mois de Tamkharit.
