C’est d’ailleurs le cas de sa dernière chanson dans laquelle elle précise rendre hommage aux afro-ascendants et défendre la cause noire. «Dans Remember the time je revisite des pans du passé, rend hommage aux ancêtres et tend aussi à éduquer les afro américains au sujet de leur histoire en les incitant à croire en eux même et à briser les barrières raciales» confie l’artiste qui revendique une musique éducative, militante.
«Nous pouvons véhiculer un certain nombre de messages constructifs, et à travers une certaine forme d’écriture militante nous pouvons changer le monde pour le meilleur» confie-t-elle à Tribune. «Je pense qu’il est important d’écrire des textes pédagogiques et profonds. Je veux utiliser ma voix pour inspirer, enseigner, être la voix des sans voix, représenter mon peuple et montrer ce que l’Afrique, les noirs sont capables de faire, aider à changer des vies d’une manière positive» assure-t-elle.
