Disponible depuis peu sur toutes les grandes plateformes de distribution musicale en ligne (Apple music, Spotify, Amazon, Tidal…), le dernier single de Matio D, intitulé «Remember The Time», se donne l’ambition de transformer un coup d’essai en coup de maître ; notamment en faisant bonne figure sur le marché américain et international. L’artiste, née Mbathio Samaké, est co-fondatrice du label Hawk Entertainment basé à Atlanta et spécialisé dans la production musicale, le cinéma, les médias et le marketing.
Elle vient de franchir le cap en éditant sa propre musique après avoir écrit de nombreuses chansons pour d’autres artistes. Désormais chanteuse, compositrice, auteure et scénariste, Matio D a plus d’une corde à son arc. Elle qui s’est expatriée aux Etats-Unis à l’âge de 17 ans après avoir obtenu le baccalauréat au lycée John Fitzgerald Kennedy de Dakar. Son attachement à ses racines se ressent dans ses productions. C’est d’ailleurs le cas de sa dernière chanson dans laquelle elle précise rendre hommage aux afro-ascendants et défendre la cause noire. «Dans Remember the time je revisite des pans du passé, rend hommage aux ancêtres et tend aussi à éduquer les afro américains au sujet de leur histoire en les incitant à croire en eux même et à briser les barrières raciales» confie l’artiste qui revendique une musique éducative, militante.
«Nous pouvons véhiculer un certain nombre de messages constructifs, et à travers une certaine forme d’écriture militante nous pouvons changer le monde pour le meilleur» confie-t-elle à Tribune. «Je pense qu’il est important d’écrire des textes pédagogiques et profonds. Je veux utiliser ma voix pour inspirer, enseigner, être la voix des sans voix, représenter mon peuple et montrer ce que l’Afrique, les noirs sont capables de faire, aider à changer des vies d’une manière positive» assure-t-elle. Non sans promettre de belles surprises audiovisuelles au public dans les échéances à venir.
