Le chanteur sénégalais Médoune Diallo est décédé ce samedi à l’age de 69 ans, à la veille de son anniversaire. Né le 11 février 1949 à Dakar, au Sénégal, Médoune Diallo s’est distingué par sa voix unique aux intonations multiples (peule du Fouta Toro (ses origines), wolof et cubaine) au sein de l’Orchestra Baobab, groupe phare de l’afro-cubain (salsa) dans les 1970.
En 1992, il est contacté par son compatriote Ibrahima Sylla (Syllart Productions) pour être membre fondateur, avec Pape Seck et Nicolas Menheim, d’Africando, devenu le plus grand groupe panafricain d’afro-cubain (salsa africaine ou afro-salsa)… Médoune Diallo disparaît le 10 février 2018 au matin à Dakar (Sénégal), des suites d’une longue maladie, a-t-on appris de nos confrères de Afrisson, spécialisés dans l’actualité musicale.
