Une Pakistanaise, mariée contre son gré, a été arrêtée pour avoir tué treize personnes en leur servant du lait empoisonné, a-t-on appris mardi auprès de la police.
Mariée contre sa volonté en septembre dans le village de Valvati, dans le district de Muzaffargarh (Pendjab, centre), elle a reconnu avoir versé du poison dans le lait de son époux, a déclaré Owais Ahmad, le responsable de la police locale, à la presse.
Mais le mari n’a pas bu son lait, qui a ensuite été versé dans un lassi – un yoghourt à boire très populaire en Asie du sud – destiné à la famille. Treize personnes sont mortes, dont le mari, et quatorze autres ont été hospitalisées, a indiqué Owais Ahmad.
La tante était le cerveau du meurtre
«La police a arrêté Asiya Bibi, ainsi qu’un homme et sa tante, reconnus complices, et les accuse du meurtre», a-t-il poursuivi, ajoutant que l’homme était l’amant secret présumé de la principale suspecte et que la tante avait été le cerveau du meurtre.
Les mariages forcés, notamment de mineures, sont légion au Pakistan, particulièrement dans les provinces pauvres et rurales de ce pays conservateur, où des centaines de femmes sont tuées chaque année dans des «crimes d’honneur».
