Quelque quatre individus, tous des ressortissants rwandais ont été incarcérés pour génocide et crime contre l’humanité à la prison de Sébikotane.
Ces détenus en provenance d’Arusha en Tanzanie ont été transférés discrètement dans notre pays depuis le 6 décembre dernier grâce à un accord de coopération signé entre les Nations-Unies et le gouvernement du Sénégal.
Parmi ces hôtes d’un genre particulier, figurent le tristement célèbre Édouard Karemera, ministre de l’Intérieur dans le gouvernement intérimaire formé le 8 avril 1994, et à l’époque premier vice-président du Mouvement révolutionnaire national pour le développement (MRND), l’ancien parti présidentiel, et de Mathieu Ngirumpatse, président du MRND au moment des faits.
Ces détenus ont été condamnés à la prison à perpétuité au titre des crimes perpétrés à travers leur pays en 1994 principalement contre les Tutsis, par des membres de leur parti, en particulier les fameux miliciens Interahamwe du MRND, qui furent les principaux bras armés du génocide.
Quant au redoutable et redouté colonel Théoneste Bagosora, considéré comme l’un des principaux instigateurs du génocide des Tutsis, il est actuellement en détention au Mali.
