Un mort et 3 blessés. C’est le bilan des heurts qui ont opposé hier, jeudi 8 février, un douanier en poste à Nianao (Vélingara) et des pèlerins bissau-guinéens se rendant à la ziarra de Médina Gounass.
Arrivés à bord de dizaines de voitures au niveau du poste de contrôle douanier de la localité, située à la frontière entre le Sénégal et la Guinée-Bissau, les pèlerins ont été priés de ranger leurs véhicules sur le bas-côté pour se doter de passavants contre 2500 francs Cfa l’unité.
Les voyageurs refusent de se plier, expliquant que depuis qu’ils font le trajet pour la Ziarra, c’est la première fois qu’on leur impose cette formalité. Les douaniers restent imperturbables.
Envahis par les pèlerins, qui semblaient peu disposés à s’exécuter, un agent des Douanes sort son arme pour tirer en l’air. Certains voyageurs accourent, retiennent son bras. Dans la confrontation, le feu partit : 1 mort sur le coup et 3 blessés.
Selon Le Quotidien, qui détaille les heurts dans son édition de ce vendredi, le corps de la victime a été transporté au Centre hospitalier régional de Tamba. Un contingent de militaires a été déployé sur les lieux.
Le journal signale que de l’autre côté de la frontière, en territoire bissau-guinéen, des mesures de réciprocité auraient été prises par des populations. Celles-ci, rapporte Le Quotidien, auraient pris à partie des transporteurs sénégalais en saccageant leurs voitures stationnées à la gare de Pirada et en en molestant quelques-uns.
