En mars dernier, avec l’inauguration d’un château d’eau, la promesse faite par le Premier ministre Mahammed Dionne d’approvisionner plusieurs quartiers en eau n’a pas été respectée selon les habitants de Thiès. Assoiffés depuis des jours, ils s’indignent et dénoncent « la désinvolte des autorités » face à la pénurie récurrente d’eau dans leur zone, rapporte Le Quotidien.
« Depuis 12 jours, pas une seule goutte du liquide précieux ne s’est exfiltrée des robinets », dixit Abdou Aziz Diop. Un autre, habitant de Mbour III, dénonce l’inutilité du château implanté dans leur quartier. « Le château d’eau implanté dans notre quartier est presque inutile pour les populations qui l’assimilent à un meuble ou une décoration. Pourtant, lors de son inauguration, le Premier ministre nous avait rassurés publiquement que jusqu’en 2025, il n’y aurait plus de problème d’eau dans ces quartiers. Malheureusement, tel n’est pas le cas et la situation s’est empirée », dénonce-t-il.
Des pénuries récurrentes d’eau dans ce secteur, qui a fini par plonger les usagers de la Sénégalaise des eaux (Sde), dans un calvaire indescriptible. Mais de son coté, la Direction régionale de la Sde a mobilisé les camions citernes pour essayer de soulager les populations, en attendant de trouver une solution durable au problème, précise Le Quotidien.
