L’ancien ministre de la jeunesse Mame Mbaye Niang, a été porté à la tête du Département du Tourisme. Un secteur à fort enjeu. Cependant, le profil de ce dernier semble plaire à l’Observatoire National pour le Développement du Tourisme au Sénégal (ONDTS), qui salue cette nomination mais aussi fait remarquer, que le ministère du Tourisme est le plus instable de tous les ministères, et souhaite cette fois- ci, que le nouveau Ministre puisse rester aussi longtemps que cela est nécessaire pour la bonne conduite des projets et des politiques touristiques.
Cependant, l’ONDTS dit déplorer le recul du tourisme dans l’ordre protocolaire et le manque de contenus du ministère du tourisme qui aurait du être associé à la fois, à la culture et aux transports aériens. « La place du tourisme, deuxième pilier de notre économie, se trouve aux cinq premiers rangs par ordre prioritaire et protocolaire. Un grand ministère qui devrait inclure le tourisme, la culture et les transports aériens pour prendre en charge les défis du secteur du tourisme » conclut leur note.
