Un chercheur français a développé des implants fabriqués à partir de nouveaux matériaux synthétiques en diamant biocompatibles et résistants à la corrosion, afin de restaurer les fonctions neurologiques.
Le diamant pourrait-il révolutionner la recherche médicale ? Lionel Rousseau, chercheur à l’ESIEE Paris y croit dur comme fer. Et pour cause : il a développé des implants en diamant afin d’améliorer les fonctions neurologiques. Son projet, baptisé Neurodiam, vient d’être récompensé par le Conseil européen de la recherche (ERC) : une bourse d’1,49 million d’euros a ainsi été attribuée à Lionel Rousseau pour qu’il finance son projet. Grâce à cette bourse, le chercheur va pouvoir développer sur cinq ans son projet de recherche au sein des salles blanches d’Esiee-Paris (NDLR : laboratoire où le taux d’empoussièrement est contrôle). «Elle va me permettre de continuer de proposer de nouvelles technologies pour améliorer la qualité de vie des patients atteints de maladies neurodégénératives et de créer ma propre équipe de recherche», se réjouit Lionel Rousseau dans Le Parisien.
