Le président Macky Sall et son homologue mauritanien Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz ont, conjointement, animé une conférence de presse, vendredi soir, à Nouakchott. Cela, pour partager avec leurs peuples respectifs les perspectives dégagées pour une répartition équitable des ressources halieutiques.
C’est ainsi que les deux chefs d’État ont « exprimé leurs vifs regrets » suite à l’incident ayant entraîné la mort accidentelle d’un pêcheur sénégalais sur les côtes mauritaniennes et déploré les saccages contre des commerces de Mauritaniens à Saint-Louis.
Toujours au cours de ce face-à-face avec les journalistes, le président Macky Sall, cité par l’Agence de presse sénégalaise (Aps), a salué le fait que le gouvernement mauritanien ait accepté « souverainement » d’augmenter des possibilités de pêche pour les pêcheurs sénégalais dans un « respect de la durabilité, des conditions d’exploitation de la ressource ».
« Nous n’avons pas de difficultés par rapport à cette question. Nos préoccupations telles que posées par les pêcheurs ont été rapportées » a, selon notre source, fait savoir le président sénégalais.
Et Macky Sall d’ajouter que les deux ministres responsables de la pêche sont en train de « travailler pour trouver la meilleure formule qui permettra aux pêcheurs d’accéder à la ressource dans le respect de la législation mauritanienne ».
« Je tiens à rassurer les populations de Saint-Louis que l’objectif est de préserver les ressources halieutiques, aussi importantes pour le Sénégal et la Mauritanie », a, de son côté, rassuré l’homme fort de Nouakchott. « Si on laisse les ressources halieutiques mal gérées, on risque de les perdre », a renchéri le président Abdel Aziz, dans les colonnes de l’Agence de presse sénégalaise.
Le chef de l’État mauritanien a ajouté que des instructions fermes ont été données aux ministres compétents des deux pays pour réfléchir sur une « une solution respectant la durabilité », pour la préservation des ressources et la « sécurité » de tous les acteurs de pêche.
