Le financement de la centrale à charbon Sendou par la Banque africaine de développement (Bad) pourrait avoir des difficultés si l’infrastructure ne respecte pas les normes. Après des plaintes portées à l’attention de l’institution par les populations riveraines, la Bad diligentera une enquête sur la conformité de la centrale à charbon de Sendou. D’après un communiqué de la Bad, «le conseil d’administration du groupe de la Banque africaine de développement (BAD) a approuvé l’évaluation de la recevabilité d’une vérification de la conformité du projet de construction d’une centrale à charbon de 150 MW dans le village de Bargny Minam au Sénégal, financée par la BAD». Les experts du mécanisme indépendant d’inspection de la banque effectueront ainsi des enquêtes approfondies afin de déterminer si les craintes des populations sont justifiées. Deux groupes distincts ont en effet adressé à la BAD des préoccupations similaires sur les conséquences environnementales et sanitaires de l’infrastructure qui pourraient induire une pollution des eaux de surface et souterraines de la région.
