La compagnie Star Oil Groupe de l’homme d’affaires mauritanien, Tijani Ben Al Houssein passe à la vitesse supérieure. Après avoir lancé la marque Star Oil en 2002 en Mauritanie, la compagnie a pris pied au Mali depuis le 1er juin 2004, suite au rachat du réseau de stations services de la multinationale Exxon Mobil au Mali, pour un coût global de 6 milliards, 550 millions de Fcfa.
Star Oil Mali qui a imposé sa marque sur le marché des hydrocarbures aux côtés du groupe pétrolier lybien, Tamoil, durant les premières années de son lancement et de la multinationale française Total, avait amassé fin 2016, en termes de chiffre d’affaires plus de 30 milliards de Fcfa.
