Le 10 octobre, après le discours de Carles Puigdemont devant le parlement catalan, le président de la région et les députés indépendantistes ont signé un document attestant de l’indépendance de l’Espagne, dont la valeur légale est floue. L’AFP a cependant fait savoir que la déclaration était suspendue.
«La Catalogne restaure aujourd’hui [10 octobre] son indépendance totale» peut-on lire sur le document, baptisé «Déclaration des représentants de Catalogne» selon Reuters.
«Nous appelons tous les Etats et organisations internationales à reconnaître la République catalane comme un Etat indépendant et souverain. Nous appelons le gouvernement catalan à prendre toutes les mesures nécessaires pour rendre possible et pleinement effective cette déclaration d’indépendance», peut-on encore lire dans le texte.
Le gouvernement espagnol, cité par l’AFP a estimé que le président catalan ne savait pas où il allait. Une réunion extraordinaire du Conseil des ministres doit avoir lieu le 11 octobre pour évoquer la crise en Catalogne.
Un peu plus tôt, devant le parlement de la région, Carles Puigdemont a assuré que la Catalogne avait gagné son droit à l’indépendance, mais que les «effets» du référendum étaient suspendus afin de permettre des négociations avec Madrid.
