Le Franc CFA est une ‘’monnaie qui rend service au peuple africain’’, a estimé jeudi, le président ivoirien, Alassane Ouattara, à l’issue d’un déjeuner de travail avec son homologue français, Emmanuel Macron à l’Elysée à Paris.
‘’C’est une monnaie qui circule dans les pays voisins alors qu’aucune monnaie des autres pays ne circule chez nous. C’est dire que c’est une monnaie qui a une certaine attractivité’’, s’est félicité M. Ouattara.
»Notre zone monétaire est une zone solide. Elle a une couverture monétaire de plus de 75% », a ajouté Alassane Ouattara au cours de la déclaration conjointe qui a sanctionné cet entretien. Au-delà de la question de la coopération monétaire, le chef de l’Etat ivoirien a révélé avoir passé en revue avec le président français, les questions relatives à l’économie, à l’immigration clandestine, à la lutte contre le terrorisme et le prochain sommet de l’Union Européenne-Afrique prévu fin novembre prochain à Abidjan.
»Nous avons parlé de projets importants », a encore indiqué Alassane Ouattara qui a salué le ‘’soutien de la France’’ pour le financement du projet du Métro d’Abidjan, dont les travaux devraient être lancés fin novembre prochain en présence du président français.
Le métro d’Abidjan est un réseau ferroviaire de transport urbain devant relier la ville d’Anyama ( Nord d’Abidjan) à celle de Port-Bouët (sud d’Abidjan). « C’est un projet essentiel parce qu’Abidjan est une ville de 5 millions d’habitants », a justifié M.Ouattara.
« Le sommet Union Européenne-Afrique va jeter les bases de la refondation du partenariat entre les deux continents. Un partenariat dans un cadre plus moderne », a déclaré pour sa part, le président français qui dit souhaiter que le président Ouattara et la Côte d’Ivoire soient pleinement associés à la lutte contre l’immigration clandestine.
C’est la deuxième rencontre à l’Élysée entre les deux chefs d’État depuis l’élection de M. Macron à la présidence française le 7 mai dernier. Lors de la première rencontre le 11 juin dernier, les deux chefs d’État avaient examiné la coopération bilatérale et avaient notamment convenu de « renforcer leurs partenariats dans le domaine militaire et du renseignement pour gagner la bataille contre le terrorisme ».
Le chef de l’État ivoirien, qui est au terme d’un séjour privé qu’il effectue en France depuis le 11 août dernier, a regagné Abidjan jeudi soir.
