La France a appelé lundi le président tchadien Idriss Déby à annoncer “prochainement” un calendrier pour les élections législatives.
Au pouvoir depuis 1990 et réélu pour un cinquième mandat en avril 2016 à l’issue d’un scrutin contesté, Idriss Déby avait repoussé les législatives sine die en février dernier.
Le chef de l’Etat avait déclaré que les élections législatives n’auraient pas lieu avant 2019 en raison d’un manque de moyens.
“Les élections législatives sont un moment important dans la vie démocratique. Nous espérons à cet égard que les autorités tchadiennes, dont c’est la responsabilité exclusive, seront en mesure d’annoncer prochainement un calendrier”, a déclaré une porte-parole du ministère des Affaires étrangères dans un communiqué.
